Bridget Cariello, is a highly regarded change agent in the human rights profession supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families to build and strengthen communities, advocate for rights and make community change. Mother of two, and a parent of a 23 year old with Autism, Cariello is currently is the Assistant Director of Strategic Project Development at AHRC Nassau, and a former project consultant for The Self-Advocacy Association of New York State. Cariello's expertise includes 30 years' experience working with people with disabilities, their families and providers in varied capacities. Cariello's contributions to this work include radio, articles, and multi-media publications, including the "Foreword" of "I am Just Me," by noted youth advocate, Sky Burke, ABC News, and TV appearances. Cariello is responsible for developing and formalizing "SANYS University," is a multi-sensory curriculum that went national. "SANYS U" teaches people with disabilities about their rights. SANYS U, has taught hundreds of people across NYS how to speak up for themselves and others. Cariello is best known for her concept development and statewide project management, her capacity to mobilize people, create a movement, and to establish real community change. At AHRC Nassau, Cariello will serves as co-chair to the AHRC-Citizen's DEI committee, supervising The POMS Department and Volunteer Services. Her current projects in development include: The DEI sub-committee, conference and advisory, DSP Pathways Long Island, AHRC @Prep Academy, "The Beat," Microsite, DEI Advocacy Ambassadors, and The Wheatley Farm and Art Center. As the liaison between key collaborators, Cariello co-facilitates, and coordinates multi-facets of these expansive projects.
